CASE STUDIES

Jackson & Rye, Whole Chain

Summer 2017

History
Jackson & Rye were unable to find an LED lamp that had the specific colour temperature they required, so as a temporary solution they had been painting their lamps with orange glass paint, which often ended up with inconsistent colours.

Brief
- To find LED lamps that gave the desired colour temperature and consistency in lighting throughout the chain
- To replace all non-LED lamps and light fittings with LED alternatives

Work Carried Out
- Manufactured bespoke individual demo LED lamps in 8 different colour temperatures for comparing and testing
- After consultation with J&R, we manufactured a limited run of lamps in 2 different colour temperatures which were installed into 2 restaurants for further testing
- Once everyone was happy with the look and quality, we manufactured a full run of the LED lamps to the clients’ specification
- Supplied and installed all bespoke lamps, as well as other LED lamps and light fittings in the restaurants and kitchens throughout the whole chain
- Reprogrammed the dimmer settings to achieve the desired light levels
- Removed and recycled old lamps and light fittings as well as all new lamp packaging
- Provided a document for restaurant staff detailing actions in the event of lamp failures

Foxlow, Chiswick

March 2016

Brief
- To convert all the Front of House lighting (bar and restaurant) to LED technology
- To make certain areas of the restaurant brighter
- To keep using the existing dimmer

Work Carried Out
- Undertook a lighting survey to show how much electricity and money could be saved over a 5 year period
- Trialled different lamps to find the best solution from a brightness and aesthetic point of view
- Carried out extensive dimming tests with different lamps to find compatible lamps for the old dimmer pack. We then needed to modify the dimmer pack to allow for the low loads that were being placed on it
- Removed and recycled old lamps and installed LED lamps
- Reprogramed the dimmer settings at night to achieve the desired light levels

Costs
Previous yearly spend on old lamps and electricity – £2,926
Current yearly spend on LED lamps and electricity – £622
Labour for conversion – £540
Predicted savings made over a five-year period – £10,980
