LIGHTING AND WORKSHOP TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role
A full-time role to carry out workshop duties and on-site installation of LED lighting.  The role will include:
- Making standard Light Fixation light fittings
- Making bespoke light fittings
- Restoring antique light fittings (training can be given)
- Testing and certifying finished light fittings
- Drawing and updating circuit diagrams and Declarations of Conformities for light fittings
- Designing and prototyping new light fittings
- Managing workshop consumables stock
- Picking and packaging customer orders
- Arranging postage/shipping of customer orders
- Going to the Post Office and Bank for relevant duties
- Creating and managing paperwork (online) related to customer orders
- Dealing with customers in-store, online and over the phone, including taking card payments
- Undertaking basic on-the-spot repairs for in-store customers
- Sorting, cleaning, recycling and any other relevant work relating to workshop tools, equipment and stock
- Work on-site converting lighting to LEDs and any other relevant duties
- Work on-site carrying out PAT testing and any other relevant duties
- Using hand tools, power tools and ladders
- Undertaking work in accordance with any relevant Method Statement, Risk Assessment and current UK Health and Safety legislation

Ideal Candidate
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory
- Good metal and woodwork/carpentry skills
- Competent at painting and creating other finishes
- Working knowledge of simple lighting systems, including wiring, dimming and power
- Training in and/or practical knowledge of using hand and power tools
- Qualification for working at height
- High attention to detail
- Able to multi-task, prioritise and problem solve
- Motivated and hard-working
- A positive and personable personality

Salary
£25,000 per annum, negotiable based on experience

 

 

WORKSHOP AND OFFICE ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role
A full-time role to help with the smooth-running of the business through office and retail administration, as well as carrying out workshop duties.  The role will include:

In the shop:
- General customer service in-store, online and over the phone
- Taking customer orders for lighting restoration work and passing it to the workshop
- Creating customer invoices and taking payments
- Keeping the store tidy and organised
- Updating the window and shop displays in conjunction with the Management
- Carrying out general office administration
- Ordering office and workshop consumables, creating purchase orders, managing incoming deliveries and updating stock levels on our online system
- Organising goods for dispatch (picking/packing/posting)
- Going to the Post Office and Bank for relevant duties

In the workshop

- Happy to work as part of a small, dynamic team to help the business expand
